Soltice in the Khutzeymateen...

The Khutzeymateen is the newest itinerary in Bluewater's selection of trips. Few can pronounce it and even fewer have been there. Bluewater guests are a privledged few who can gather stories and photos of this remote and magical gem on BC's North Coast. Sail to the outer islands with wonderful wildlife experiences, ever-changing scenery and Tsimshian First Nations history on this 7 day adventure.

Here is an excerpt from an upcoming blog post written by Bluewater Marketing Coordinator, Erin Boyle, who recounts her Bluewater 2013 expedition in the Khutzeymateen "...I was overjoyed to hear that my Mom was finally able to join me! She has seen photos and listened to stories about my Bluewater adventures over the last 5 years, but to find the right words to truly explain what is seen and felt on these trips is harder than you might think! Finally, she was able to experience a Bluewater trip for herself...

"It is remote and picturesque. The region spans a myriad of outer islands and narrow fiords cloaked with emerald greens of the coastal rainforest.

Deserted beaches are carpeted in delicious sea asparagus and the pebbles are rubbed smooth and round... We explore old growth forests along animal trails lined with salal, huckleberry and wild blueberries.
"As we head into the fjords, north of Prince Rupert, the landscape changes yet again. We search the banks of the Khutzeymateen Inlet for grizzly bears  - we are now heading into "their" territory. This sheltered waterway is shrouded by tall granite cliffs with thickets of hemlock and alder clinging to their almost vertical walls. We see bald eagles falconing above as we motor along escorted by a growing number of curious harbour seals - and there, from the bow we spot a solitary bear grazing in the sunshine...".
